Elkheaven.com’s Scouting Services
Take advantage of our scouting
services for your next Colorado elk hunt. A lot of people just don’t have the time
to scout out good places to hunt elk. Starting in 2007 we will scout designated wilderness areas only. There are two reasons for that. One, wilderness areas receive very little pressure from hunters - mostly because access is difficult for most people. Second, you will find more mature bulls in wilderness areas. We will concentrate in the Indian Peaks Wilderness (game units 18, 20, 28 and 29), Vasquez Peak Wilderness (unit 28), Comanche Peak Wilderness (unit 20) and James Peak Wilderness (unit 38). Most of these units have over the counter tags available or require 1 preference point to hunt. We recommend archery, muzzleloader, 1st and 2nd rifle seaons in wilderness areas (before the snow gets too deep). Also, starting in
*2007 a subscription fee of $20.00 will be charged (to pay for gas for our scouting trips). That gives you access to the scouting information for 12 full months. Alternatively, you can request a "Game Unit Review." GURs will always be free.

The biggest benefit of using our scouting services is it will allow you to get into hot spots for elk the first time you are out. Though we can't guarantee what the elk will do when you get there we can show you the right spots. The rest is up to you. Disclaimer: Elk are hearty animals with keen senses. Keep the wind in your face and walk slowly and quietly when in elk country. Elk adapt quickly to human pressure and changes. Allow them to function naturally for best results. Also, elk country (wilderness areas) are extremely difficult terrain in most cases. It's recommended you are in the best shape of your life to fully enjoy wilderness areas. Nothing is easy about finding elk in wilderness areas. Elk are smart animals and while
their daily habits are cyclical they can be unpredictable when they are
pressured. Weather, human traffic and noise can and do affect how elk live. We
can greatly increase your chances on public land. We can show you the best
places to quietly sit and wait for elk to show up. The rest is up to you. Make
every effort to keep your human scent to an absolute minimum and the wind in
your face. Stay quiet and as still as possible to avoid being heard or seen
while in the woods. .
